Privacy Policy Overview
This privacy policy explains how the Tasbih — Digital Counter app (the "App") by Lites App ("we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information, in line with Google Play policies and applicable privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA.
Data Collection & Usage
1. Personal Data Collection
- No personal data collection: The App does not collect, store, or transmit personal information such as names, email addresses, or account identifiers.
- No accounts: The App does not require registration or sign‑in. All core features work offline.
2. Device Data Collection
Limited device information may be used to provide App functionality:
- Phone state: Used solely to detect call status and pause counting during incoming/active calls. We do not access call audio, phone numbers, or contacts.
- Storage/media access: Used only to let you select images for dhikr items. Selected images are copied into the App’s private storage for reliability.
- System permissions: Used only to enable features such as haptic feedback, notifications, alarms/reminders, and background counting (see Permissions Justification below).
No device tracking: The App does not perform device fingerprinting, GPS/location tracking, contact/SMS access, or background data collection beyond the ad SDK’s own operations described below.
3. App Usage Data
- Local only: Dhikr counts, items, categories, and settings are stored locally on your device.
- No analytics: The App does not include third‑party analytics for behavioral tracking.
- Feedback emails: If you choose to send feedback/bug reports, your message and optional device info are included in an email composed in your chosen email app and used solely to troubleshoot and respond.
Data Storage & Security
1. Local Data Storage
- Room Database: Dhikr data is stored locally in the App’s private storage and protected by Android’s file‑based encryption. The App does not transmit your dhikr data to external servers.
- DataStore: Local storage for preferences and settings.
- Internal Storage: Selected images are cached in the App’s private directory for reliability (see Image Handling).
2. Image Handling
- Selected images are copied into app‑private storage; originals remain on your device.
- Images may be resized/compressed for performance and storage efficiency.
- Images are not uploaded or shared externally by the App.
- Automatic cleanup removes orphaned cached images.
Third‑Party Services
1. Google AdMob (Advertising)
- Purpose: Displaying ads and rewarded ads (e.g., to unlock certain themes).
- Data processed by AdMob: Advertising ID, device information, and high‑level app interaction data used to serve, limit, and measure ads in accordance with Google’s policies.
- Consent and control: We use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent for ad personalization where required. You can change ad preferences anytime; non‑personalized ads are available.
- Ad‑free purchase: You may purchase an ad‑free experience via the App’s Remove Ads option.
2. Google Play Billing (Purchases)
- Purpose: Processing one‑time purchases (e.g., premium themes, Remove Ads).
- Security: Payments are handled by Google Play. We do not store card or payment data.
- Restoration: Purchases can typically be restored on compatible devices using the same Google account.
3. Google Play Services (Core) & In‑App Review
- Purpose: App compatibility, security updates, and in‑app review prompts via Google Play APIs.
- Privacy: Data handling by Google is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policies.
Permissions Justification
1. Essential Permissions
- INTERNET: Required for ads and consent management. No personal data is transmitted by the App.
- VIBRATE: Haptic feedback during counting. No data collection.
- WAKE_LOCK: Keep screen active during auto‑counting. No data collection.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS & FOREGROUND_SERVICE (incl. media playback type): Display notifications for background counting service. No personal data collection.
2. Storage Permissions
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android ≤ 32): Allow user to select images for dhikr items. Selected images are copied to private storage. On Android 13+, the App uses scoped storage and does not request broad storage access.
3. System Permissions
- READ_PHONE_STATE: Detect incoming/active calls to auto‑pause counting. No call content or phone numbers are accessed.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED & SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Restore and schedule dhikr reminders after device restart. No personal data is collected.
- MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS: Control audio feedback during counting. No personal data is collected.
- REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS: May be requested to help ensure reliable reminders and background counting on certain devices. Optional; no personal data collection.
User Rights & Control
1. Data Control
- All dhikr data, images, and settings are stored locally on your device.
- Delete the App to remove all locally stored data from your device.
- No account deactivation is required, and no data is stored on our servers.
2. Data Portability
- You can export and restore your data using the App’s Backup & Restore feature, which creates local backup files that you control.
- The App does not use Android’s cloud backup system.
3. Ad Preferences
- Opt‑out of personalized ads via the consent dialog where available or device settings.
- Request non‑personalized ads.
- Purchase the Remove Ads option for an ad‑free experience.
4. Permission Management
- Grant or revoke permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Some features may be limited without certain permissions; the App adapts gracefully where possible.
5. Feedback and Support Emails
- If you choose to send feedback from within the App, you can optionally include device information to help diagnose issues.
- This information is included in an email composed in your chosen email app and is used only for support and troubleshooting. We do not receive or store it unless you send the email.
Compliance & Regulations
1. GDPR (European Union)
- Data minimization: We collect the minimum information necessary to provide App functionality.
- Purpose limitation: All processing relates to App functions (e.g., ads, purchases, reminders).
- Storage limitation: Dhikr data remains on your device; we do not store it on servers.
- User rights: Access, edit, and delete data locally within the App. You can export via Backup & Restore.
2. CCPA (California)

- Right to delete: Uninstalling the App removes local data on your device.
- Right to opt‑out of sale/sharing: We do not sell personal information. Ad personalization is governed by your consent and settings.
- Non‑discrimination: The App remains functional even if you choose non‑personalized ads.
3. COPPA (Children’s Privacy)
- The App is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- No behavioral tracking or profiling is performed by the App.
Data Retention & Deletion
1. Local Data
- Your data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- No remote server copies are maintained by us.
2. Cached Images
- Cached images persist until you clear them or uninstall the App.
- Automatic cleanup removes orphaned cache files; you can also clear cache from settings.
